A Message from the Principal
Johnson school is once again celebrating Read Across America with our own “March Madness” Student/Faculty Basketball Game on March 28th. Although this night is intended to provide fun and excitement for all, we need to remember that the goal of this program is to promote reading. Although essential literacy skills are taught in school, it’s important to have a child follow through with reading at home. As a parent, you are your child’s first and most influential teacher. By encouraging reading at home, you can start them out on a successful road to literacy and open their minds to all the wonderful journeys that a good book can take them on. Our students have been rising to the challenge and reaching the school goal of 5,000 books! We hope that you have seen a more motivated child at home who is excited to read due to this effort. The fact remains that children who read frequently are better readers and better students. Let’s keep this excitement going well after the last basketball is thrown on the 29th!
Congratulations Carrie Hogan,
HC Johnson Teacher of the Year!
